Frequently Asked Questions

  • The shop is about 1 mile from the south (main) entrance to Zion National Park. We are set back off from the main road (SR9) through Springdale. Behind the Pizza & Noodle restaurant.

  • Angels Landing is the chain-lined section of trail beginning at Scouts Lookout. To hike this trail you must have a permit obtained from Zion National Park. View the video HERE for details on how to obtain a permit.

Looking for a guide? Even though this hike is permitted it is allowed to be guided, however, a permit is still required for all participants which is included on the tour. Book our Angels Landing Summit Experience Tour which is only available run on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.

  • The Narrows is typically open year-round but can close due to high water levels, flash flood risks, or unsafe conditions. Closures are most common in the spring when snowmelt increases river flow. Before your trip, check current conditions on the Zion National Park website or call the visitor center for the latest updates.

The Narrows is closed whenever the Virgin River flow exceeds 150 cubic feet per second (CFS), as measured at the USGS Virgin River gauge at Springdale, UT. You can check current CFS levels on the USGS website here.

    Flow Rate Guidelines:

    • Below 70 CFS – Ideal hiking conditions, with moderate water depth and easier wading.

    • 70-150 CFS – Still hikeable but with stronger currents and deeper water in some sections.

    • Above 150 CFS – The Narrows is closed for safety reasons.

    Seasonal Closures:

    • Spring Snowmelt (March–May) – The Narrows often closes for several weeks due to high water from melting snow. THIS YEAR (2025) HAS BEEN A DRY WINTER. WE EXPECT THE NARROWS TO STAY OPEN FOR LONGER THAN USUAL

    • Flash Flood Warnings – The park may temporarily close the Narrows if heavy rain is expected, even if the CFS is below 150.

Before heading out, always check current CFS levels and the flash flood forecast to ensure a safe and enjoyable hike.

  • The Zion Park Shuttle is a complimentary (free) shuttle providing access to all trailheads along the Zion Scenic Drive.

    • The shuttle does NOT run year-round.

    • You do NOT need a ticket or reservation to get onto the shuttle.

    • Shuttles arrive about every 10-15 minutes on the Springdale Line (outside the park) and about every 5-10 minutes on the Zion Canyon Line (inside the park).

    • Shuttles take about 45 minutes to drive between the Zion Canyon Visitor Center and the Temple of Sinawava. This means a round trip takes about an hour and a half.

Visit the Zion National Park Shuttle Page for more specific details regarding operation and schedule.
